How the seven-day catch-up window is built
Recording a channel is easy. Recording programmes is not. Our cloud DVR records continuously and then cuts recordings on boundaries taken from the EPG, so a viewer who picks last night’s film gets the film and not the fifteen minutes of advertising around it.
When a live event overruns, the schedule update arrives as a push and the recording boundary moves with it. That is the difference between a catch-up service people use and one they complain about.
Restart and start-over sit on the same buffer: two hours of time-shift per channel, so a viewer joining a match at halftime can jump back to kickoff.
